KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the club has selected 17-year-old forward Jakub Illes in today’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
With the 43rd overall pick of the 2013 Draft, the Americans added a big forward by selecting Illes, a 6’2 185 lb. center from the Czech Republic.  The 17-year-old spent the 2012-13 season with the HC Vitkovice U18 and U20 clubs, playing in a total of 50 games while collecting 11 goals, 27 points and 38 penalty minutes.  Additionally, he played in four games for the Czech Republic at the World U-19 Hockey Challenge, tallying no points and two penalty minutes. He will be eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft.

“Our scouts identified Jakub as a player with very good potential,” explained Tory.  “He is a big center who plays a strong puck possession game. Jukub has a tremendous work ethic and will fit in well with our hockey club.”
