Americans Trade Denham to Rebels for Draft Picks

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the club has traded 16-year-old prospect Kaleb Denham to the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a 7th Round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft and a conditional 4th Round pick in the 2015 Bantam Draft.

Denham, a 6’3 170-pound defenseman from Innisfail, Alberta, spent the 2011-12 season competing as a member of the Red Deer IROC Chiefs, appearing in 30 games and collecting 6 goals, 22 points and 87 penalty minutes.  Denham, who was originally a 6th Round (126th overall) pick by Tri-City in the 2011 Bantam Draft, competed in the Americans’ rookie camp this past August before being re-assigned to the Red Deer Optimist Rebels for the start of their Alberta Midget Hockey League season.

“With the recent signings of Carlo, Hillis, Wotherspoon and Fraser, I felt it was only right to give Kaleb an opportunity to play in the WHL and close to home,” explained Tory.  “He got crowded out here, but he is a quality kid and player.  We wish him well in Red Deer.”

After dropping their first road game of the season this past Saturday, the Americans will head back out on the road for a match-up with the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday, October 3.  Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Comcast Arena.  The two division rivals met last week, with Tri-City pulling out a 3-1 home ice win.  Fans can catch all the action live, via WHL Live, at the Americans’ home away from home, Kimo’s Sports Restaurant in Richland, starting at 7:00 p.m.  The game will also be broadcast live on NewsTalk 870 AM, starting with the Sterling Bank Warm-up Show at 6:45 p.m.
