Hockey 4 Haiti is March 1st

KENNEWICK, WA – This Friday, March 1 at the Toyota Center, the Tri-City Americans are teaming up with World Harvest Missions to host the 4th Annual Hockey 4 Haiti fundraising campaign, benefiting New Life Children’s Home orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti.

The initiative, which has raised $19,157 in three seasons, began shortly after the island nation of Haiti was devastated by a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 12th, 2010.  Since the earthquake, many groups from the Tri-Cities have assisted in administering medical care, provided construction and rebuilding services, and worked with the kids at New Life Children’s Home.  New Life orphanage is a place where children have been rescued from tragedy, disease, or severe malnutrition.  And, although currently over capacity, they are unwilling to turn their backs on any child that needs care.

Please join us on Friday vs. the Seattle Thunderbirds in our joint efforts of making a better life for these children by participating in the Hockey 4 Haiti silent auction, going on behind Sections J and K!  The auction features a long list of Americans memorabilia, as well as great gift baskets and packages!  All proceeds benefit the New Life Children’s Home orphanage in Haiti.  One auction closes with the drop of the puck in the second period, the other with the drop of the puck in the third period!  Some of the marquee silent auction items include: a Wildhorse Casino Vacation Package, a 3-Month Tri-City Court Club Membership, Nike Hoop Summit Suite Seating Tickets, and an autographed Adam Hughesman Las Vegas Wranglers jersey.

There will be a special Friday night fundraising edition of Ranch & Home’s Chuck-A-Puck during the second intermission.  Grand Prizes include a $150 gift card, courtesy of Ranch & Home and Four (4) Walt Disney World 1-Day Park Hopper Passes, thanks to New Life Children’s Home.

It’s another Tri-City Herald Family Friday, presented by KEPR-TV, with fans able to clip the coupon in Thursday’s edition of Atomictown, Friday’s edition of the Tri-City Herald and online at to get four tickets for just $56! About New Life Children’s Home, World Harvest Missions Inc.:

We have a great vision as we move forward helping the poor, sick, abandoned and/or orphaned children of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Many have given up on Haiti and have left, but we have and will continue to stay and press on because of the children. We have done the very best we could with what we have had, and now the need demands that we step out and do more.

Our Current responsibilities are as follows:
1) Maintaining our Children’s Home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti of 130 children. We continue to be a “Rescue Center” for abandoned, handicapped, orphaned and children with severe malnutrition and disease, nursing them back to health.
2) We have a staff of forty including nanny’s, a doctor, two nurses, physical therapists, cooks, etc…
3) Our children’s home budget is over 160,000 per year as we also have much medical costs and unexpected emergencies.
