Tri-City Americans defenseman Michal Plutnar was invited to the Czech Republic’s training camp for the upcoming World Junior Championship in Sweden.

“It’s exciting. This is the best junior tournament,” Plutnar said. “To be invited is a an honor. Many people will be there watching — scouts, general managers and others.”

The camp will take place in Rokycany, Czech Republic (an hour north of Prague), starting Dec. 10.

Plutnar will fly out of Prince George on Dec. 8 following a pair of games against the Cougars.

The WJC will be held in Malmö, Sweden on Dec. 26-Jan. 5. The Czech Republic is in Group A with the United States, Canada, Slovakia and Germany. The Czech Republic finished fifth last year.
