Christmas came a day early for Eric Comrie.

The Tri-City Americans goaltender signed a three-year, two-way, entry-level contract Tuesday with the Winnipeg Jets. The contract has an average annual value of $925,000.

“This is really exciting news for me and my family,” Comrie said. “It’s a weight off your shoulders. I’m excited to be part of such an unbelievable organization. Now I can move forward and focus on winning more games.”

Comrie was drafted by the Jets in the second round of the 2013 NHL draft, 59th overall. Comrie’s agent, Ritch Winter, called him Monday and said he had been talking with the Jets. On Tuesday, Winter called with the offer, and Comrie accepted.

Since the signing was released by the Jets, Comrie’s Tri-City teammates have been texting him and tweeting the news.
