Kennewick, WA – Tri-CityAmericans’ Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today the team has traded 18-year-old defenseman Josh Thrower to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for 19-year-old defenseman Tyler Morrison.
Morrison, a native of Sherwood Park, AB, has one goal, five points and six penalty minutes in 20 games this season.
“Tyler is a skilled offensive defenseman that will add maturity to our blueline,” Tory said. “We look forward to him joining our club. He will be in the lineup Saturday against Spokane.”
Thrower, a native of North Vancouver, B.C., has recorded three assists, a -9 rating and 68 penalty minutes in 51 games in an Americans uniform, including three assists and 22 penalty minutes in 23 games played this season. He has played in 124 career WHL games with the Americans and Calgary Hitmen, scoring three goals and 14 points.
“Josh came to me and expressed a desire to play closer to home for personal reasons,” Tory said. “We are sad to see him go, but this was the right thing to do for Josh.”
The Americans begin a four game home stand this Saturday, Nov. 22, against the rival Spokane Chiefs. Tickets are on sale through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer locations or online at ticketmaster.com.
