Americans Acquire Reese Belton from Blazers

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 20-year-old forward Reese Belton from the Kamloops Blazers.

Kamloops will receive a fourth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospect Draft in exchange. The pick is from the Edmonton Oil Kings which was acquired by the Americans in the 2019 Sam Stewart trade.

Belton, a native of Winnipeg, Man., was selected 97th overall by Kamloops in the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft. The right-winger stands at six-foot-two and 203-pounds. Over 118 WHL games, he has totaled 45 career points. Belton is coming off a great 2021-22 season where he scored 14 goals and added 20 assists in 64 games played. He continued his success with the Blazers in the playoffs as they made it to the WHL Western Conference final. Belton added a goal and four assists over 17 postseason games.

“Reese is a power forward who put up good numbers in Kamloops last year,” stated Tory. “He will add depth scoring and leadership to our lineup. He is a good skater and very good on the offensive cycle while playing a heavy game.”
