Americans trade Marc Lajoie to Oil Kings

KENNEWICK, WA – The Tri-City Americans announced today they have traded 2003-born defenseman Marc Lajoie to the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick.
Lajoie, a native St. Albert, Alta., was selected 14th overall by the Americans in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. He appeared in 215 games with the Americans recording 93 points (26 goals, 67 assists) and 237 penalty minutes. In 65 games during the 2022-23 season, the six-foot-six, 215-pound defenseman recorded five goals and 37 assists. He was named Tri-City’s captain prior to the 2022-23 season.
“We have an abundance of quality overage players returning, which forces us to make some hard decisions,” stated Tory. “Recouping quality draft capital was a priority as we can only carry three overage players each season.
“We would like to thank Marc for his four seasons with the Club. We wish him all the best moving forward in Edmonton.”
