Recap: Americans move into fourth in standings with 2-1 victory over Everett

The Americans moved into fourth place in the Western Conference standings with a 2-1 victory over the Everett Silvertips on Friday.

Despite outshooting the Silvertips 16-6 in the first period, the game stayed scoreless into the second frame.

Fresh off a victory at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game, Lukas Dragicevic opened scored with a highlight reel goal late in the second period. The 2023 NHL Draft prospect leads all WHL defensemen in scoring with 52 points in 42 games.

Jalen Luypen extended Tri-City’s lead to 2-0 as he scored bar down with a wrist shot over the glove of Silvertips goaltender Tyler Palmer. The goal was set up by Parker Bell, who was charged by Andrew Petruk after the pass. Petruk received a major penalty for charging and game misconduct.

Caden Zaplitny scored Everett’s lone goal of the night 8:09 into the third period.

The Americans were able to hang on a secure the victory, passing Everett in the playoff standings.
