Tomas Suchanek named WHL Goaltender of the Week

KENNEWICK, WA – The Western Hockey League announced today that Americans goaltender Tomas Suchanek has been named the WHL’s goalie of the week for the week ending January 29, 2023.

Suchanek, from Oloumouc, Czechia, started all three games for the Americans this past weekend, helping the team go a perfect 3-0.

He first turned aside 25 shots against the Everett Silvertips on Friday, backstopping the Americans to a 2-1 win.

The next night Suchanek stopped 34 Spokane Chiefs shots as Tri-City downed the Chiefs 6-2.

On Sunday, Suchanek finished his weekend by helping the Americans to a 3-2 win on the road in Everett, making 32 saves.

Over the three games Suchanek stopped 91 of 96 shots, posting a .948 save percentage and 1.67 goals against average.

Through 29 games this season Suchanek is 18-9-0-0 with a .905 save percentage and 3.41 goals against average.

Tri-City returns to game action Wednesday night when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos for the first time since January 17, 2018.
